Imagen if we were all blind or let’s pretend that none of us had eyes. What would our world look like?
It’s just a hypotethical proposition. I mean, we were meant to be able to see. Even in colour and in depth. That’s why we have 2 eyes to distinguish depth and distance. God gave us eyes for practical purposes, but also to see the beauty of his creation, including ourselves. ( We judge the opposite sex with our eyes. )
But imagen that we would not be able to see, then everything would change.
First of all we would be forced to hear better and to move carefully while walking from one place to another. There would be not so much obstacles as we encounter these days in our consumeristic world. Our world is full of ornaments and objects meant for the human eye. But if there is no eye all of those ornaments no longer have a purpose. So, there would not be so many obstacles…
Cars and trucks would no longer be… I suppose, because how in the world would someone with no eyes be able to control the wheels of a vehicle in order to arrive safely at another place? The safest way would be to walk and use the other senses for orientation purposes. So no longer cars, huge roads etcetera.
Would we still construct huge buildings? I suppose we would not. I guess there would be no fear of height, because height would not be visible. But on the other hand there would be no control over the fact that people would be able to move safely at higher altitudes. One step in the wrong direction could be fatal.
Another difference would be that we would be forced to listen to other people before we would have any idea about their personality. Now we often judge people on their appearance. Are they beautiful? Are they ugly? Are they skinny? Are they obese?
No longer would that be important, because beauty in appearance would not exist. On the other hand there is something like beauty on the inside or a beautiful personality. I mean, somebody with physical beauty does not automatically have a beautiful personality. Somebody with a less beautiful occurance does not automatically represent a less beautiful personality. Physical appearance doesn’t matter.
What you are is what you think
If we had no eyes, we would not be searching for a handsome looking partner to share our lives with. No, we would search for someone who fits in our lives and preferably someone with good qualities, loving, caring, not selfish, not lazy, wise…etc. Those qualities would be much more important than the physical appearance.
Why do we judge with our eyes? I guess, because we grew up in a world where people always judge with the eyes, before they even have the chance to know the truth.
Therefore it is very important to investigate the qualities of a person long-term. Talk to the person, try to be friendly. You will find out soon. Usually it doesn’t take long to learn to know somebody, but we are not always in a good mood and we live in varying circumstances. That’s why people should meet multiple times before judging others.
A good way to get along with most people is to try to see the good in everyone. Even people with bad habits or even people who are considered to have a bad personality have good qualities, but sometimes we have to dig deeper to find them.
If we would all try to give people more than one chance, this world would look a lot different, even if we have eyes.
