In one of my earlier posts I mentioned that I like music of all kinds. But, since my childhood I’ve always liked opera. That’s because my father used to play opera records any time of the day and even while we were sleeping. That left something inside of me.

His favourite artist was Mario Lanza. And I have to admit that I’m a huge fan of his too.

However, I do notice here and there that some artists perform very well on stage, singing one of the arias I like most.

Among those arias are: ‘Una Furtiva Lagrima’ from Gaetano Donizetti’s opera L’elisir D’amor. This is really one of my favourite arias and one particular singer I think performs it very well on stage: Rolando Villazòn. Although I think his voice leans more towards a bariton voice, I still consider him an excellent tenor.

Another aria I like to listen to is Ella Mi Fu Rapita followed by Parmi Veder Le Lagrime from Verdi’s opera Rigoletto. I like the way Richard Leech performs on stage and how he sings very much:

Another aria I like very much is ‘Celeste Aida’ from Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Aida. I have no preference about what artist I like most singing this, but as you know I’m a huge fan of Mario Lanza and I most  certainly like the way he sings the aria.

Mario never really became an opera singer, but became world famous with his singing. Especially the movie: ‘ The Great Caruso’ made him legendary. Unfortunately he died very young at the age of 38. Due to a drastic diet.

A singer I like for one particular song: ‘Mattinata’ written by Ruggero Leoncavallo is Marcello Bedoni. Although he’s not a world class singer he’s still a very talented singer as you’ll notice in the video below:

Music is very important to me and whenever I feel good I whistle or sing the music that I like. That varies quite often from classical to modern music. Of course you won’t see me perform in a video on Youtube. I think that place is reserved for the real artists.

Arrivederci!
